Y’all must be wondering what Scheherazade is?
Well, Scheherazade was launched in 2013 by Maryam Iqbal Khan who graduated from the London College of
Fashion in Accessories design. She hails from KPK Peshawar and operates the brand both in London and
The name Scheherazade takes after the Persian storyteller the narrator of Arabian Nights. This is the
brand’s first unstitched winter khaddar collection. Khaddar often used for winter wear is usually stiff but
the brand has come up with a new soft version which gives a soft flowy feel. The brand has come with a
capsule collection of five prints. Perfect for professional wear. The brand takes its inspiration from
colors used in the west and motifs used in the east a perfect fusion of east meets west.
Colors used are warm perfect for winters and the inspiration of motifs used has been taken from the
Moghul Bhuta -Moghul Era which takes its inspiration from floral arts and nature.
The borders to the Dupatta have been devised from the Moghul architecture these can be worn or you can style with
plain suits. Where the availability to artisans and sources to the main cities of Lahore and Karachi are
abundant designers from small towns struggle with maintaining the eco-system.
I do hope that with the launch of such designers others take inspiration to create their own designs and make opportunities for those attached to the industry like fashion illustrators, bloggers, graphic designers, and photographers.
Also, Scheherazade plans on expanding their accessories line. They plan on branching out into perfumes
ottoman jewelry, handbags & shoes which is quite exciting. So yea, please don’t forget to like their Facebook page & stay tuned beauties!!
